CBD Vape Strength Guide UK: How to Choose the Right mg for You

CBD Vape Strength Guide UK: How to Choose the Right mg for You
What the mg on a CBD vape label really means, how to work out CBD per puff and per ml, and how to choose a pen, pod or e-liquid strength that keeps you within the FSA’s 10mg daily guidance.
The short version
The headline mg is the total CBD in the device or bottle, not what you take. For pens and pods, divide by the puff count to get CBD per puff. For e-liquid, divide the mg by the ml to get mg per ml.
Most people do best with a lower strength per puff, which makes it easier to stay within the FSA’s advice of no more than 10mg of CBD a day. A higher number on the box doesn’t mean a better product.

CBD vape labels can be confusing. A pen says 1000mg, a bottle says 3000mg, another says 15,000mg, but none of those numbers tell you how much CBD you actually take. This guide explains how to read vape strength properly and choose the right product for you.
What the mg on a CBD vape label means
The mg figure is the total CBD in the product. To compare products, convert it into the amount you take:
| Product type | What to calculate | Formula |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-filled pen | CBD per puff | Total mg ÷ approximate puff count |
| Pre-filled pod | CBD per puff | mg per pod ÷ approximate puffs per pod |
| E-liquid (vape juice) | CBD per ml | Total mg ÷ bottle size in ml |
Puff counts are always approximate, because they depend on how long and how hard you draw. Treat per-puff figures as estimates.
Assumes about 20 drops per ml. The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to take no more than 10mg of CBD a day. This tool is for information only and isn’t medical advice.
CBD vape strengths in the Haze range
| Product | Total CBD | Strength | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haze Platinum pen | 1000mg | Around 1,500 puffs, so roughly 0.67mg per puff | Beginners who want a simple pen |
| Haze Legend pen | 1000mg | Check the pack for the puff count | Flavour choice (6 flavours) |
| Haze Platinum Pro pods | 1000mg isolate per pod | Up to 6,000 puffs per pod, so a low amount per puff | Regular users who want less waste |
| Haze CBD Rock 100ml | 3500mg | 35mg/ml | Refillable pens, lower strength per ml |
| Haze CBD Strains 60ml | 3000mg | 50mg/ml | Refillable pens, medium strength |
| Haze CBD Shot 10ml | 1000mg | 100mg/ml | Mixing into your own e-liquid |
| Haze CBD Diamond 100ml | 15,000mg | 150mg/ml | Very high strength. Only for experienced users, in small amounts |
Which strength should you choose?
| You are… | Look for |
|---|---|
| New to CBD vapes | A pre-filled pen with a low CBD per puff (under ~1mg), such as the Platinum |
| An occasional user | A pre-filled pen or pod. Take a couple of puffs and wait 10–15 minutes |
| A daily user | A pod system or a lower-strength e-liquid (35–50mg/ml) in a refillable pen, so you can keep your daily total low |
| Mixing your own liquid | A CBD shot, diluted to the strength you want. See how much CBD to add to vape juice |
The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to have no more than 10mg of CBD a day from all products combined. With e-liquid, that’s about 0.2ml of a 50mg/ml liquid, or under 0.1ml of a 150mg/ml liquid. That’s why very high-strength liquids are hard to use within guidance. Common strength mistakes
- Judging by the headline mg. A 15,000mg bottle isn’t “better” than a 3,000mg one. It’s just more concentrated.
- Comparing vape mg with oil mg directly. Inhaled and swallowed CBD behave differently. Compare formats in gummies vs oil and how long CBD takes to work.
- Taking long, hard puffs. Bigger puffs deliver more liquid, so your per-puff estimate goes up. Short, gentle draws keep things consistent. See how to inhale a vape.
- Forgetting other CBD products. Gummies, oils and drinks all count towards your 10mg.
Strength and lab testing
A strength figure only means something if it’s accurate. Independent testing has found CBD products that contain much more or less than their label says. Look for an independent lab report showing CBD content close to the label claim and THC within the UK legal limit of 1mg per product. All Haze CBD products are independently lab tested. UK rules that affect CBD vapes
- No more than 1mg of THC (and other controlled cannabinoids) in the whole product. The “0.2% THC” figure doesn’t apply to finished products.
- Since 1 June 2025, vapes must be rechargeable and refillable, or take replacement pods. Single-use vapes are banned.
- CBD vapes can’t make medical claims.
- Vaping Products Duty of £2.20 per 10ml applies to vaping liquids from 1 October 2026.

- A lower strength per puff makes it easier to stay within the FSA’s 10mg-a-day guidance.
- Very high-strength liquids (100–150mg/ml) are hard to use within that guidance.
- Check for an independent lab report showing accurate CBD content and legal THC levels.

CBD vape strength: FAQs
A pre-filled pen with a low CBD per puff, ideally under about 1mg. Start with one or two puffs and wait 10–15 minutes before taking more.
It depends on how many puffs it gives. A 1000mg pen with around 1,500 puffs works out at roughly 0.67mg per puff, which is a moderate strength.
Divide the total CBD by the bottle size. For example, 3000mg in 60ml is 50mg per ml, and 3500mg in 100ml is 35mg per ml.
The FSA advises healthy adults to have no more than 10mg of CBD a day from all sources combined.
Not necessarily. Higher strength just means more CBD per puff or per ml, which makes it harder to stay within the daily guidance.
Yes, if they contain no more than 1mg of THC per product, are rechargeable and refillable (or take replacement pods), are sold to adults and make no medical claims.
