5 Things to Check Before Buying a CBD Disposable Vape Online

5 Things to Check Before Buying a CBD Disposable Vape Online (UK)
Legal THC limits, the 2025 single-use vape ban, lab tests, ingredients and device specs: a plain-English checklist for buying a CBD vape pen online in the UK.
The short version
Since 1 June 2025, fully single-use vapes can’t be sold in the UK. What’s sold as a “CBD disposable” today should be rechargeable, and ideally refillable or with replaceable pods.
Before you buy, check five things: legal THC content, who makes it, the ingredient list, the device spec and an independent lab test for that batch.

Buying a CBD vape pen online is easy. Knowing whether the one in your basket is legal, well made and accurately labelled is harder. CBD itself is legal in the UK, but the rules around THC, vaping devices and product claims are strict, and the market still has plenty of poorly labelled products.
Here are the five checks worth making before you pay, plus the warning signs that should make you close the tab.
1. Check the product is legal in the UK
Three rules matter most:
- THC. Under the Misuse of Drugs Regulations, a finished CBD product can contain no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids such as THC in the whole container. The “0.2% THC” figure you see quoted online relates to hemp cultivation, not to finished products, so it isn’t the test that applies to the vape you buy. Our guide to whether CBD is legal in England explains this in more detail.
- The single-use vape ban. Since 1 June 2025, vapes that can’t be recharged and refilled (or fitted with a replacement pod) can’t be sold or supplied in the UK. A legitimate “disposable-style” CBD pen sold today should be rechargeable.
- No medical claims. CBD products can’t legally claim to treat, cure or prevent any condition. A seller promising relief from anxiety, pain or insomnia is ignoring the rules, which tells you something about how they handle everything else.
Also make sure you’re buying a product made for vaping. CBD oil drops are designed to be taken by mouth and must never be put in a vape: the carrier oils they use can cause lung damage when inhaled.
2. Research the brand and manufacturer
When you buy online you can’t inspect the product, so you’re relying on what the company tells you. A trustworthy brand makes that easy to check.
| What to check | What good looks like |
|---|---|
| Company details | A UK address, contact details and a clear returns policy |
| Lab testing | Independent third-party testing, with results available for the batch you’re buying |
| Labelling | Total CBD in mg, ingredients, batch number and best-before date on the pack |
| Age checks | Clear 18+ restriction at checkout |
| Marketing | Factual product descriptions, no health or “guaranteed results” claims |
| Reviews | Reviews on independent platforms, not only on the brand’s own site |
3. Read the ingredient list
A CBD vape liquid usually contains just a few things:
- CBD extract: CBD isolate, broad-spectrum or a distillate.
- Carrier liquids: propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG), which turn into vapour when heated.
- Terpenes and flavourings: these add taste and aroma.
Avoid these in a vape: vitamin E acetate, MCT (coconut) oil, hemp seed oil or any other oil-based carrier. Oils are fine to swallow but not to inhale, and vaping them has been linked to serious lung injury. If a vape product lists an oil carrier or doesn’t list ingredients at all, don’t buy it.
4. Compare the device specification
With a pre-filled pen you don’t need to worry about wattage or coils, but a few details still make a real difference:
| Spec | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Total CBD (mg) | Tells you how strong the pen is overall. Divide by the approximate puff count to estimate CBD per puff. |
| Rechargeable / refillable | Required by law since June 2025, and it means you won’t throw the device away half-used when the battery dies. |
| Charging port | USB-C is the most convenient. |
| Coil material | Ceramic or stainless-steel coils from a reputable maker are standard. |
| Batch number and date | Lets you match the device to its lab test and check it’s in date. |
Not sure how strong to go? Our CBD vape strength guide and how much CBD to vape walk through it, and the calculator below shows roughly how much CBD you get per puff.
Assumes about 20 drops per ml. The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to take no more than 10mg of CBD a day. This tool is for information only and isn’t medical advice.
Store your pen at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and away from children and pets. Most CBD vape liquids keep for one to two years unopened. Check the best-before date on the pack.
5. Look for independent lab testing
A lab report (often called a certificate of analysis) is the only way to know what’s in a CBD product. A good one will:
- come from an independent, accredited lab rather than the brand itself;
- show a CBD content close to the label claim;
- show THC within the UK legal limit;
- screen for heavy metals, pesticides and residual solvents;
- carry a batch number that matches your product.
If a seller can’t give you a lab report for the batch you’re buying, take that as your answer. All Haze CBD products are independently lab tested.

- Medical claims such as “cures anxiety”, “pain relief guaranteed” or “sleep aid”.
- No lab results, or a single generic report that doesn’t match any batch.
- A price far below the market: quality CBD distillate isn’t cheap to make.
- Missing labelling: no mg content, ingredients, batch number or age warning.
- Non-rechargeable devices still being sold after June 2025.
- THC or “legal high” cannabinoids such as HHC or THC-O. These are controlled or unregulated and shouldn’t be in a UK CBD vape.
Start low and know when to check with a doctor
If you’re new to CBD, start with a few puffs and see how you feel. The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to have no more than 10mg of CBD a day across all products. CBD can interact with some medicines, so speak to your GP or pharmacist first if you take prescribed medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a medical condition. Buying CBD vapes online: FAQs
Fully single-use vapes have been banned from sale in the UK since 1 June 2025. CBD vape pens are still legal as long as they are rechargeable and refillable (or take replacement pods), contain no more than 1mg of THC and make no medical claims.
No more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids such as THC in the whole product. The often-quoted 0.2% figure relates to growing hemp, not to finished CBD products.
Usually CBD extract, propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG) and terpenes or flavourings. Avoid vapes containing vitamin E acetate or any oil carrier such as MCT oil.
No. CBD oil drops are made to be taken by mouth. Inhaling the oil carrier can damage your lungs, so only use liquids made specifically for vaping.
Buy from a UK retailer that lists full ingredients, labels the CBD content in mg, prints a batch number and provides an independent lab report for that batch.
