CBD Dosage Calculator: How Much CBD Is in Each Serving?

Use our free CBD dosage calculator to work out how much CBD is in each drop, gummy or puff — and how to stay within the FSA’s 10mg daily guidance.

The short version

How much CBD should you take?

The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to take no more than 10mg of CBD a day, from all CBD products combined. That’s much less than many online charts suggest.

Use the calculator below to see how much CBD is in each drop, gummy or puff of your product. Start low, stay consistent, and speak to a GP first if you take medication.

CBD dosage calculator – Haze CBD oils, gummies and vapes

This guide to CBD dosage calculator covers what you need to know, using UK guidance and the latest evidence. If you’re new to CBD, the most confusing part is often the numbers. A bottle might say 1000mg, a gummy pack 750mg and a vape 600 puffs — but how much CBD are you actually taking each time? This free CBD dosage calculator turns the label into something useful: the CBD in each drop, gummy or puff, and how much keeps you within UK guidance.

CBD dosage calculator

Choose your product type, enter the total CBD on the label and the bottle size, pack size or puff count. The calculator shows how much CBD is in each serving and how many servings add up to your daily target.

CBD serving calculator

Assumes about 20 drops per ml. The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to take no more than 10mg of CBD a day. This tool is for information only and isn’t medical advice.

How the calculator works

It divides the total CBD in your product by the number of servings:

  • Oils and drops: total mg ÷ (bottle size in ml × 20). A standard dropper gives roughly 20 drops per ml, though this varies by bottle.
  • Gummies: total mg ÷ number of gummies.
  • Vapes: total mg ÷ approximate puffs. Puff size varies a lot, so treat this as a rough guide.

The daily target is set to 10mg by default, in line with the Food Standards Agency’s advice. You can change it, but the calculator will flag anything above 10mg.

How much CBD should I take?

In October 2023, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) updated its advice: healthy adults should take no more than 10mg of CBD a day — about 4–5 drops of a 5% CBD oil. It’s precautionary advice based on the long-term safety evidence available, and it applies to all CBD food products combined.

You’ll see weight-based charts online that suggest 25mg, 50mg or even 100mg a day. Those figures aren’t based on UK guidance, and there’s no evidence that a particular mg-per-kg dose works for a particular goal. We’d rather give you a clear, safe number.

Who shouldn’t take CBD

The FSA advises that CBD isn’t suitable if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication, unless a doctor has advised it. CBD isn’t for under-18s, and if you have a liver condition, speak to your GP first.

CBD per serving at a glance

Strong products contain a lot of CBD in each drop or gummy, so it’s worth knowing the numbers:

ProductCBD per servingTo stay within 10mg a day
500mg oil, 10ml bottleAbout 2.5mg per dropUp to 4 drops
1000mg oil, 10ml bottleAbout 5mg per dropUp to 2 drops
6000mg oil, 30ml bottleAbout 10mg per drop1 drop
300mg gummies, pack of 3010mg per gummy1 gummy
1000mg vape, about 600 puffsAbout 1.7mg per puffUp to 6 puffs

If a single gummy or drop contains more than 10mg, that product delivers more than the FSA’s daily guidance in one serving.

Start low and keep it consistent

  • Start with a small amount — below your daily target — and keep it the same for at least a week.
  • Take CBD at a consistent time so you can judge how it suits you.
  • Count every CBD product you use. A gummy plus a few puffs of a vape all add up.
  • More isn’t better. The aim is the smallest amount that suits you, within 10mg a day.

How the format changes things

Different formats behave differently. Vapes take effect within minutes but wear off sooner; oils held under the tongue typically take 15–45 minutes; gummies take longer because they’re digested first. Oils make it easy to measure small amounts, while gummies give a fixed serving. Read more in our guide to how long CBD takes to work and our CBD oil dosage guide.

When not to rely on a calculator

A calculator tells you what’s in your product — it isn’t medical advice. Speak to a GP or pharmacist before using CBD if you take any medication, have a medical condition, or are unsure whether CBD is right for you.

CBD dosage — frequently asked

The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to take no more than 10mg of CBD a day, from all CBD products combined. It isn’t recommended if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication unless a doctor has advised it.

It depends on the strength. With a 500mg/10ml oil it’s about 4 drops; with a 1000mg/10ml oil about 2 drops; with a 6000mg/30ml oil about 1 drop. Use the calculator above for your exact product.

We don’t recommend different doses for different conditions — CBD isn’t a medicine and there’s no evidence-based dose for these uses. The FSA’s 10mg daily guidance applies whatever your reason for taking CBD.

Weight-based charts are common online but aren’t based on UK guidance. The FSA’s advice is a simple maximum of 10mg a day for healthy adults.

Yes. Many people split their daily amount between morning and evening. Just make sure the total stays within 10mg a day.
